Pilates Style

I believe that Pilates should be a way of life, something that can enhance your life not just from a fitness point of view but by focusing on your posture and the way your body works you can affect your emotional wellbeing, your confidence and the way you present yourself to the rest of the world.

The way you hold yourself directly affects how others perceive you and how they react towards you; in the same way we know that physiology has a direct bearing on our emotions and mental status. How amazing then to be able to have an understanding and therefore a control over our bodies.

Pilates isn’t about high impact exercise, rather it is about controlled movements that don’t make you tense or leave your muscles tight. It is about feeling toned and centred, achieving a sense of calm.

The ideal way to end a class is by doing a relaxation exercise or meditation so that you can absorb everything you’ve learnt in the session. It also gives you a chance to really take stock of how your body is feeling in order to take that away with you and implement it outside of class.
