Postnatal Pilates

After nine months of change you must now make the process of returning your body to its pre-preganacy condition. Various factors including your birthing experience and breast feeding will affect how you body feels and how you hold yourself and it is particularly important to start working your pelvic floor muscles as soon as possible to prevent future problems.

It is safe to return to pilates classes when you are six weeks postnatal for a vaginal birth and ten to twelve weeks after a C-section, however you should always check with your health care provider before embarking on a fitness programme.

Benefits of postnatal pilates include:-
  • Return to pre-pregnancy shape quicker
  • Alleviate any pregnancy related postural problems
  • General fitness levels
  • Pelvic floor connections
